Music Thursday: “Who’d Have Known”

July 22, 2010

It’s a testament of my progress over the past year and a half that I can listen to certain songs. The video below, which I can only link to since embedding for the clip is disabled, is for a song from Lily Allen’s last album. I loved it way before the album release because it was a public demo during the recording process. Then the proverbial shit hit the fan, and I could absolutely not bring myself to listen to it anymore. So, after the album came out, I did not listen to the one track I had looked forward to most for well over a year. I broke that avoidance pattern a couple of months ago. I don’t listen to the song very often, but it no longer bothers me to do so. In fact, I think it’s one of Lily’s more brilliant tracks.

With regard to the video, I love, love, love the Elton John theme. If you want to see why I love it so, then just watch the footage from the second link.

Note: I wish there were a video for “Absolutely Nothing”. If there were, I’d be posting that too. But for the opposite reason; it was one of the songs I listened to on repeat ad nauseum.
